Would love the Balcon to be more like the sunset grill … now that was Amazing & def worth the additional charge. I’m sure the management will address this as it does not meet the high standards you receive everywhere else. I also had plastic in my dessert and he couldn’t care less. The evening head waiter I found to be very rude and he was making fun of customers, messing about on his phone and commenting negatively about customers and their choice of food to other staff members. Breakfast was not enjoyable (tasteless & unusual mix of food) and the evening meal was disappointing. All rooms here are beautiful and staff do try to accommodate all dietary needs. Staff amazing, food delicious and pool is so welcoming! Loved the evening bands and dancing too! Cocktails were delicious! Already booked for next year! Highly recommend the lake house suite & butler is a lovely touch. Second time here and it’s just as fantastic as I remembered. In summary, yes – with the general ambience and staff quality we would chose the Residence again – but hopefully the food quality can be looked at.… This was our own choice, but it does call into question, was the Residence worth the money as the a-la carte restaurants and buffet are included next door. For lunches we tended to go next door as sometimes you just want a cheese sarnie! With the disappointment with the theme nights, we did choose to eat in the buffet next door a few times and did use the Italian. We had a meal at Cuphea where I was served a lovely piece of veal, but nothing with it – no salad, no sides, no veg! Very odd! I did raise this with the TUI Rep as wasn’t sure if this was just a bad week! That said, breakfast was great.
Now I appreciate its personal taste – but an Indian needs to be Indian (not a spice paste over a chicken skewer), and onion bharji is not just a large deep fried onion ring. The appeal of table service over a buffet was obvious, however we found some of the theme nights really disappointing in terms of the food quality. It was refreshing to get in first thing, but not cold! The gardens were well looked after, the staff were amazing, the spa was good and the cats entertaining. The pool layout was great although a couple of shallower areas would have been nice. I can see the appeal of the swim-ups here as they are part of the main pool and get the sun for most of the day but as an outsider I didn’t get the point of the extra cost of the Lake House – so if anyone has booked just a Superior Double, please don’t be concerned. We stayed in the Superior Double and it was lovely. In terms of the Residence, accommodation was great. The obvious is “no kids” however we should consider that come September, most kids are back at school and its just the very young ones – who generally don’t spoil my holiday. We have previously stopped in the Sensatori next door – so was keen to truly find out what you get for the extra money and to decide if its worth it. Just returned from 2 weeks at the Residence.
